NBOA Annual Meeting Health and Safety Information: Assumption of Risk

NBOA takes the health and safety of all attendees very seriously and will adhere to any local or state guidelines for hosting events. Additionally, we encourage participants to employ all available precautions to mitigate their own health risks as well as those of fellow attendees. This may include up-to-date vaccinations (COVID, influenza, etc.), wearing a mask, and/or staying home if you present any symptoms of illness. While not required, we encourage attendees to consider taking a COVID test prior to attending the meeting. At this point in time, NBOA is not making any of these precautions mandatory to attend and, therefore, attendance is at each participant's own risk.

Despite the measures in place to mitigate the risk of transmission of communicable diseases, there are inherent risks that attendees may become infected with one or more communicable diseases as a result of attending the Annual Meeting. These risks include, but are not limited to, the following: exposure to a communicable disease, becoming infected with a communicable disease, or becoming a symptomatic or asymptomatic carrier of a communicable disease. Attendees who contract a communicable disease may encounter medical care, hospitalization, other potential complications, and the risk of death.

By choosing to attend the Annual Meeting, attendees understand, acknowledge, and voluntarily assume these risks and agree to release NBOA, its officers and directors, employees, and agents (the “Released Parties”) from all claims, liability, and damages that attendees may have for personal injuries, illnesses, medical expenses, or other loss resulting from their attendance at the Annual Meeting. Attendees acknowledge that this release includes personal injury, illness, medical expenses, or other losses caused by or resulting from negligence, active or passive, of the Released Parties; however, the release does not apply to liability for gross negligence, willful injury, or fraud, and is not intended to release any of the Released Parties’ insurers, if any, or non-agent third parties of any responsibility for any claims that may otherwise be asserted.
