Code of Conduct

NBOA is committed to fostering a positive learning and engagement experience for all attendees. The NBOA Annual Meeting is designed to promote interaction, engagement, collaboration, connectivity and community, in an enjoyable and safe learning environment.

Annual Meeting attendees are expected to conduct themselves with integrity, courtesy and respect for others and maintain the highest level of professionalism at all programs and events, whether officially sponsored by NBOA or not.

All attendees, guests, speakers, organizers, volunteers, partners, business partners, sponsors, exhibitors and staff at any NBOA event are required to observe the following Code of Conduct:

  • NBOA does not tolerate harassment of meeting participants in any form. This includes, but is not limited to, harassment based upon gender, sexual orientation, ability, physical appearance, body size, race or religion.
  • All communication should be appropriate for a professional audience including people of diverse backgrounds and cultures.
  • Sexual language, imagery, or unwanted behavior are not appropriate for the meeting.
  • Sexist, racist, or exclusionary language and jokes are not tolerated at the NBOA Annual Meeting.

If you experience or witness conduct in violation of this code, please bring it to the immediate attention of a member of the NBOA staff leadership team. Points of contact are Jeff Shields, president and CEO; Jennifer Hillen, chief learning officer; James Palmieri, executive vice president; and Irena Reese, vice president, finance and operations.

Consequences of Unacceptable Behavior

Unacceptable behavior will not be tolerated at in-person meetings or related events, whether by attendees, guests, speakers, organizers, volunteers, partners, business partners, sponsors, exhibitors and staff. We expect all event participants (as stated above) to abide by this code of conduct. NBOA, at its sole discretion, may ask individuals who violate this code to leave the event immediately, and may bar them from continued participation in the program, without refund of any fees paid. NBOA may also, in appropriate circumstance, bar violators of this code from participation or attendance at future NBOA events and may also notify the individual’s employer of NBOA’s finding of a violation.
