Leave Law Boot Camp

This one week intensive class discusses the requirements for and interaction between different forms of employee leave. Participants will learn about the leave mandated under the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and the law's eligibility requirements and employer obligations. Participants will also learn about leave-related medical accommodations under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and its 2008 expansion as well as the Pregnancy Discrimination Act. Participants will then learn about workers’ compensation leave and USERRA and how all of these laws interact with each other. This course includes asynchronous instruction available daily through videos, reading and online discussion topics. While participants have access to the instructor throughout the week, all participants are invited to join in a live hour-long question and answer session on Thursday afternoon at 2 p.m. ET when the instructor will answer questions and engage with the group on policy implementation strategies. Participants should plan to reserve 1-2 hours daily for the course in order to maximize learning.

This course is being offered in partnership between NBOA and One Schoolhouse.
