2021-22 Program Outline

The NBOA Leadership Academy will develop current and future leaders in the independent school business office to help schools face their most pressing challenges. The program is a new and distinct opportunity for independent school business staff to enhance skills in collaboration, communication, negotiation and consensus building that will complement their technical knowledge and expertise in operational standards and regulatory compliance.

Participants will convene for monthly cohort conversations, each focusing on a key leadership skill, as well as two in-person events: NBOA’s 2021 North American Conference on the Business Office (NACOBO) on the campus of Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN (November 3-5); and the 2022 NBOA Annual Meeting in Chicago, IL (February 21-23). Experienced business officers with a track record of professional success will lead sessions and serve as peer mentors. The Academy will provide access to a national network of independent school business officers and connections with the NBOA Board of Directors. Throughout the program, participants will develop a clear understanding of their personal leadership attributes as well as the leadership role required to sustain their schools’ success today and in the future.
